What motivates you, when you are faced with adversity?
As I have grown and learned more about myself through personal development and mentorship, I have stepped into my purpose. The definition of Adversity uses words such as: Distress, Misfortune, Difficulty and Hardship. I’ve experienced hardships since I was a kid in some shape or form. Whether it was kids picking on me or having a stressful childhood in my own home. Growing up in a single parent home in the projects was very difficult for me. I had all the material things I needed except the emotional support. Watching my mom run her business out of our apartment to make ends meet showed me what overcoming hardships was like. You get up and take action to better your situation, no matter how long it takes. I got saved at the age of 7 in New York and it was at that time I said, ‘I wouldn’t be a product of my environment’. I saw that people who looked like me could live a better life. That just because I was in the projects didn’t mean I had to stay there. I have kept that statement in my head that no matter what, I must keep pressing forward to break the generational curse of having less than. That with me, there will be generational health and wealth that can be handed down. What I do today affects 3 generations down. I must continue to journey and build a legacy for those that come after me. That motivates me everyday to get up and press towards the mark of a vision bigger than myself! In the back of my mind I remind myself that I have a purpose and I must keep going for those watching and depending no me to make it!
“I saw that people who looked like me could live a better life.”
What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge to overcome was my car accident, February 10, 2013. I broke both ankles and my hip. Went through the windshield scaring my face drastically. I had a choice to make. I could let a life changing accident halt my dreams of being an actress and model or… I could go even harder to reach my dreams of accomplishing these dreams I’ve had since I was a kid. The me now, thanks the me then that decided to move forward and press through. I remembered my why. I didn’t just want to accomplish making it into modeling and acting for me but for those back home that may have the same dream but don’t see the opportunity to do it. I worked everyday to recover in rehab.
It was what I did when I was alone that helped me recover even more so than the few hours a day I’d have or therapy Monday-Friday. In the after hours I’d pray for full recovery. I’d ask God to help me help myself to ‘Take up my bed and walk’! (John 5-8) This is a word that required an action! I was determined to walk across the stage at graduation. I would practice getting up out my chair. I’d look in the mirror and see myself walking and tell myself that I could because I believed that I would. I engaged with people on social media who were encouraging. I’d sing everyday songs that made me feel good inside. Songs that encouraged and inspired me to press I believed better was coming and that I could still reach my dreams. I didn’t want to be in a wheelchair or on a walker or crutches. I am proud to say I walked across with just my cane and ankle brace on! I have since made it to movies that have been on the big screen, in the Red Boxes, on Netflix and more! I have walked some long runways with ankles that have no cartilage and brackets in them with 5 inch heels on.
“. I’d ask God to help me help myself to ‘Take up my bed and walk’! (John 5-8)”
What are you most proud of?
After the accident, I found it difficult to get my life back. Overcoming such a life changing event is more challenging than the physical! I didn’t find out they didn’t think I’d walk again until after I started walking again. Then they thought that I wouldn’t wear heels again. They told me that I needed to lose weight so that it would take pressure off my injuries and I could heal better. I lose weight involuntarily the 2 months I was in rehab. I went in at 232 lbs. and came out 212 lbs. When I left rehab, I gained the weight right back in just a few months. I struggled big time walking. I wore my boot and walked with my cane. I went on and moved to Atlanta January 2014, less than a year of my car accident. I took on a full time job in a call center and an overnight stocking job. The call center job ended and I was released from the stocking job due to doctors orders. I could barely walk during or after my shifts because of the pressure on my ankles. I eventually came off the cane and able to walk decent enough to get in my heels to model. Moving forward to 2017, I had to have surgery to get the brackets out of my left ankle because of the pressure from the weight and heels. I had to recover all over again. This made me very depressed, and I moved to FL and gained more weight reaching 273 and a XXL. I was praying and crying for help. I was having migraines, chest pains, heavy breathing, just a mess and no one could help me out this whole I had found myself in.
God sent me an answer to my prayers in a pack of tea. I found this amazing company called Total Life Changes 2018. I am proud to say that it became so much more than tea. I became a Life Changer starting my business and have become and stayed a product of the product losing 97 lbs. and now a S/M. Best Life Changing decision of my life as I am in better health today than I was before my accident. I can wear heels confidently, run and climb mountains. I am so proud that I said Yes to myself!
What has been you most satisfying or rewarding moment in business?
The most satisfying moments in my TLC business has been when those I serve share their testimonies about how the products have helped them. How the products make them feel. For those who join me in business, it’s the personal growth they experience that is the most rewarding. When I hear my business partners say that they are having more positive self talks, that they feel better about themselves, it is an amazing thing. To know I introduced them to a company full of love and care from the top down. Since I was 13 I have been writing on my offering envelope ‘Lord enlarge my territory for me and my children…’, the Prayer of Jabez! Through my testimony of my car accident, it went viral reaching millions. Through my business I now have something more to offer them. I look at my business as a ministry that helps people not only in their physical but it helps them in Mind, Body and Spirit. Because I have grown as a person and learning how to overcome and get through things better and more effectively, I can pass that along. I have more to offer the people that have stuck with me since my accident and those that are coming along. I am able to walk more into my purpose to reach the world and serve!

What advice do you have for women going through challenges?
My advice to women is to ‘Tap In’ to some type of leadership or mentorship. Tap into someone who is where you want to be and has done or doing what you want to do. The woman that you want to be, find someone who best fits that person and learn from them. I have some amazing mentors and coaches, male and female. These are people who won’t just look at you failing and not say anything or help you up. They will give you more than just an encouraging word. If you have goal, dream, or vision, they will give you direction. They give you the blue print to of how to first start within yourself so that you can prepare for these things you want. Many times we may want things that we aren’t ready for and when we get them, it’s gone. Overcoming yourself is the biggest challenge of all. Once you overcome the mind, nothing outside can harm you. The Universe has no choice but to bend to your will and give you what you have been praying, working and sacrificing for. Sometimes the sacrifice is giving up our old self, our old thinking so that we can live our blessed lives. Tap into the people who love and care about who you become and where you’re going! TAP IN!
Why is woman to woman empowerment important to you?
Woman to woman is important because in the society we live in today, there are too many women out there with seeds to grow and manifest visions and dreams but no where to be planted and watered. For decades men have been dominant in leading the way, however, the last few years women leaders have stepped up into roles women have never been in and not just women but black and brown women. This gives hope and inspiration to many.
