Allow The Things & People That Will Contribute To Your Life

My name is a Tenille Baskin, and I am originally from Tennessee, but I now reside in the state of Texas. I enjoy and have a passion for inspiring young ladies and women through speaking and writing, and I enjoy music. I am also an author who has had the opportunity to participate on panels and platforms that speak to our worth and confidence as young ladies and women.

The biggest challenge that I have faced is being unclear and misunderstanding my true worth and value because of all of the things that I “allowed” to jeopardize that. There is a famous quote that says, “you show people how to treat you with what you allow, you stop, and what you reinforce”. And I allowed people to mishandle me, I didn’t stop people from belittling me, and I reinforced behaviors that made me fee less than, inadequate, and beneath what I was really worth, all because I didn’t know. It wasn’t until I lost all the things that made me unique and special, like my joy, my sense of humor, my belief in myself, my voice, that I realized that my worth and identity had been compromised and stolen right before my eyes.

Once I realized this, I didn’t “allow” it to continue, by trying to fill my life with more things and people that would deplete me, but I made an executive decision to take the time to heal, revisit and reestablish my priorities, and I “allowed” God to restore me and my identity as only

Allow the things and people that will contribute to your life. He could.

So I come before you today, confident, bold, and whole from the inside out, all because of a decision. It was a hard decision and a process, but in my heart, I knew I was worth it. My advice would be to allow the things and people that will contribute to your life. And put everyone else in their proper place with the proper expectations.
