What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute mine to being resilient. I have been knocked down, tripped up, and even stumbled over my own feet trying to be the success others had defined for me – yet I never gave up as I desired to fulfill the will of the Father.

I’ve learned that adversity is simply fuel for change.

What motivates you when you are faced with adversity?

I’ve learned that adversity is simply fuel for change. Adversity generally comes from individuals who are lookers, not participants of your journey who want to impose their situation on someone else. I kindly dismiss it and keep moving forward.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Getting what you want does not always benefit you.

What advice do you have for women going through challenges?

I would first ask them to consider if what they are facing was sent to make them or break them? I have experienced that often the challenges in life are an attempt to redirect me to my place of purpose, I had to be willing to submit to the Father’s plan and see if there was a lesson in the challenge.

If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be?

I would’ve sought help to heal from my sexual trauma – I didn’t speak on it until I was in my late 30’s

Why is woman’s empowerment important to you?

Valerie Burrell is passionate about creating an atmosphere for change in the Kingdom! In 2012, God spoke to her regarding the many traumas she’s experienced in life, letting her know that she was equipped to make change through the use of God’s word and transparency. It was then that she began the work, aiding those who have been physically, emotionally and spiritually abused. She realized that she has been empowered to empower others.
